Assoc. Prof. Muhittin Emre Altunrende, MD – Neurosurgery

Assoc. Prof. M. Emre Altunrende, MD was born in 1974. He completed his secondary education at Sivas Congress High School. After graduating from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1997, he started his specialization in Trakya University Faculty of Medicine Neurosurgery Clinic. After becoming a specialist in 2007, he fulfilled his compulsory service and military service obligations. He worked at Taksim EAH in 2013-2019. He became Associate Professor in 2019. Functional Neurosurgery (Parkinson, Deep Brain Stimulation), Cranial and Spinal tumor, Spinal degenerative diseases are of special interest. He has more than 50 articles published in domestic and international journals. He is married and has a son.

a-Functional neurosurgical interventions, diagnosis and treatment
b- Approach to the Pre and Postop patient
Aims and Objectives of Training:
a- Recognition of diseases in the field of Functional Neurosurgery (Parkinson, Dystonia, Spasticity, Epilepsy, Huntington’s Chorea etc. movement disorders), interventions for these diseases (Deep Brain Stimulation, Lesion Surgery, Neural cord stimulator, Baclofen pump), patient and treatment method have an idea about the choice
b- Preoperative and Postop approach to the candidate for Functional Neurosurgery operation
c- Struggling with possible complications
Content of Training:
a- Diagnosis and evaluation of movement disorders
b- Selection of appropriate treatment method
c- Preop preparation and operation follow-up
d- Battery / pump opening
e- Battery/pump adjustment
