Innovations in Videothoracoscopic, Robotic Lung Surgery

Prof. Çağatay Saim Tezel, MD – Chest Surgery

I was born in 1975, Istanbul. I am married and have two children. My education and training life passed in Ankara. I graduated from Ankara Medical Faculty in 1999. I completed my specialization training at Heybeliada Sanatorium and became a Thoracic Surgery Specialist in 2014. During this period, I had the opportunity to work as a Fellow at Royal Bromton Hospital, London. I introduced our country in the field of thoracic surgery for the first time by making a verbal presentation at the STS “The Society of Thoracic Surgeons” American Thoracic Surgery Congress. Then, after doing my military service at Girne Military Hospital for a year, I worked as a Specialist Doctor, Chief Assistant, Associate Professor and Training Assistant in Süreyyapaşa Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Clinic, respectively. During this period, I served as the Turkey Representative of ESTS “European Thoracic Surgery” and the Head of Thoracic Surgery Working Group of ERS “European Respiratory Society” with the scientific studies we conducted. I worked on the board of the Turkish Respiratory Research Association. I presented the lung tumor surgeries performed by entering the neck, which is the first in the world and has not yet been repeated, at international congresses. Again, for the first time in our country, I presented the abdominal lung surgeries to the literature of our country. While I continue my academic studies as the Head of Thoracic Surgery Department at Haliç University Faculty of Medicine, I continue my professional studies at Liv Hospital.
